Under state law, Borough Council is afforded the power to fill vacancies caused by the death or resignation of municipal elected officials. If Council does not appoint an eligible resident within 30 days, then the Vacancy Board will convene to choose a replacement. This body consists of all incumbent Members of Council and a single elector who serves as its non-voting chairperson.
